What you get here that you would not get elsewhere.
Nobody is named on this page, on purpose: a table with a competitor across the top of it is out of date the week they ship something, and you cannot check it either way. What is compared instead is the two shapes of product a practice is usually choosing between, and every row on our side is something the app does today.
- Messages from your own number
- Works with no signal
- One plan, not a price per head
- No card to start
The message arrives from your number, not a stranger's.
Almost everything else sends WhatsApp through a messaging gateway. The reminder then reaches your client from a number they have never seen, often in another country, under a business name they do not recognise. Plenty of people read that as a scam and ignore it, and the ones who do reply are replying to a robot that cannot answer them.
Here the app opens WhatsApp on your phone, at that person's chat, with the message already written in their language. You read it and press send. It is your number, your thread, and their answer comes back to you like every other message they have ever sent you.
Nine events can be sent this way, and every one of them is yours to rewrite: what the messages are.
What that changes
- They see the number already saved under your name
- A reply is a reply, in the thread you both already use
- Nothing to pay per message, because nothing is metered
- No gateway account, no business verification, no template approval
- No third party is handed your client's phone number
- Works the same on a personal or a business WhatsApp
Nothing goes out in your name unread
The message is written for you and waits for you, so you can change a word, add a line, or decide this is not the week to chase that person. What genuinely should run unattended already does: receipts and reminders go out by email on their own, with nobody in the loop.
Three more differences you would notice in the first week.
The lift, the basement, the village
A booking made with no signal is still a booking: it queues on the device and replays when the connection comes back. Most of what a practice competes with is a website in an app icon, and a website with no connection is a blank screen at the exact moment somebody is standing in front of you asking for a date.
One plan, not a price per head
Pro is $30.00 a month for the practice, and it invites 5 other people, across 5 places to work from. Priced per user, the same team is that figure several times over, which is why the software a growing practice needs is usually the software that punishes it for growing.
Devices are never counted either: what the plans cost.
Money the way it is actually taken
Cash, card, transfer or cheque, in dollars, lira or euro, at a rate you set and only you change. Every amount is whole cents from end to end, and every row keeps the currency it was taken in, so a rate you move tomorrow does not quietly restate what last year came to.
The whole comparison, in one table.
The middle column is the booking app: a calendar with reminders, sold to anyone who takes appointments. The third is the clinic suite: a hospital system cut down for a practice. Where a column says "usually" or "sometimes", that is exactly what it means, because these are two kinds of product and not two companies.
| What you are comparing | Calcendar | A booking app | A clinic suite |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp from your own number The client sees the number they already have saved for you, and their reply lands in your chat. | ✓ | A shared sender | A shared sender |
| What a message costs to send Nothing here goes through a messaging gateway, so there is no per-message rate to sign up to. | Nothing | Per message | Per message |
| Books a session with no signal Bookings and edits made offline queue on the device and replay when it comes back. | ✓ | × | × |
| What a whole practice costs One subscription with people included, rather than a figure multiplied by however many of you there are. | One flat plan | Per user | Per user |
| Starts without a card No card is asked for at sign-up, and nothing renews itself: a plan runs to the date it was granted for. | ✓ | × | × |
| Clinical record with scored assessments GAD-7, DASS-21 and ASRS v1.1 built in, scored on the server with their bands. | ✓ | × | ✓ |
| Build an instrument of your own Write the questions, set the scoring, and a filled copy keeps the wording it was filled with. | ✓ | × | Rarely |
| Notes written by hand Stylus or finger, kept as strokes rather than a picture, so they stay sharp on any screen. | ✓ | × | Rarely |
| Bills in three currencies at your rate USD, LBP and EUR. Every row keeps its own currency, so changing tomorrow's rate never restates last year. | ✓ | × | × |
| Stock room and purchase orders Products, suppliers, orders, and every movement in or out. The count is the sum of the movements, never typed. | ✓ | × | Extra module |
| The practice's own profit and loss Costs on one side, revenue on the other, with session fees coming from your sessions rather than typed twice. | ✓ | × | Extra module |
| Arabic all the way through The app, this website, and the message the client actually reads, right-to-left where it should be. | ✓ | The app only | The app only |
| A booking page, and a private link per client A public page on your own address, plus per-client links that only open the slots you are willing to give them. | ✓ | ✓ | Sometimes |
| Everything back out as Excel Clients, sessions, transactions and visit payments, as .xlsx files Excel opens as they are. | ✓ | Sometimes | Sometimes |
| Free trial before anybody is charged Nothing is deleted when it ends. Sign-in stops until a plan is activated, and everything is where you left it. | ✓ | Usually | A demo first |
Which of our rows belongs to which plan is on the features page, at the foot of it. The record, the stock room and the extra places are the Pro tier; the calendar, the money and the messages are on both.
Fair questions about a page like this
My work is not clinical. Is half of this table irrelevant?
The record, the assessments and the stock room are, and you would be on the smaller plan, which does not carry them or charge for them. Everything else in the table is on every plan: a tutor, a coach and a driving instructor get the calendar, the offline booking, the money in three currencies and the messages from their own number. The app calls them clients rather than patients when you are on that plan. What that costs.
Can I try it before deciding any of this?
Yes, and without a card. Open it in a browser or install the Android app, and the trial runs on a real account with your own data in it. You pay when you decide to, in the app, and nothing renews itself afterwards. Get the app.
Easier to judge with it open.
It takes a minute in the browser, and nothing is asked of you to start.
